Following last week’s announcement that two 90’s era jambands God Street Wine and Strangefolk will be performing together, another band is getting in on the action. Percy Hill will forever be remembered for their 1999 album Color in Bloom where compositions like “Sun Machine” “Ammonium Maze” and “313” set the standard of what a non noodly improvisational band should sound like. The critically acclaimed release won a Jammy award for best studio album and earned the band high praise from publications like the Village Voice and Entertainment Weekly. Percy Hill’s music drew favorable comparisons to Paul Simon, Sting and Steely Dan; and while their live shows earned them a spot beside the very best of the improvisational rock bands of the 90’s and early 2000’s (Phish, Widespread Panic, Disco Biscuits, moe., String Cheese Incident), they often claimed to be most at home in the studio. Now, a little more than 10 years after Percy Hill’s last live performance, the band comprised of Joe Farrell, Aaron Katz, John Leccese and Nate Wilson will reunite to celebrate the 17th anniversary of their critically acclaimed album with shows in Portland Maine and Boston Massachusetts over the first weekend of Spring 2016.
