The Who could be set to record a new album.
In an interview on the band’s official website – TheWho.com, frontman Roger Daltrey revealed that guitarist Pete Townshend is working on a follow-up to 2006’s ‘Endless Wire’.
"Pete [Townshend] is writing," Daltrey revealed. "You never know when that might turn up. So, between now and then [our next tour], there might be a new album."
Currently in the planning stages for a 2011 tour, Daltrey admitted that it would be more than just a greatest hits show.
"We have thought about that [doing a greatest hits tour]," he said. "But what is a greatest hits show? All the hits and nothing else, and none of the obscure? That would bore me shitless. If we did a greatest hits tour, everybody would say, ‘We’re bored with that, give us something else’. We can never please everybody."
The singer also admitted that he’d like to play as many different shows on the tour as possible, with their 1973 rock opera ‘Quadrophenia’ and 1969 album ‘Tommy’, also being performed.
"I would like to be on the road playing as many different kind of shows as we could," he explained. "Maybe doing ‘Quadrophenia’ one night, do greatest hits the next night, this is what I would like to do. And ‘Tommy’, if I could still sing ‘Tommy’.
