Greylag is excited to announce that they will be heading out on tour this spring with Augustana. The Portland group’s debut EP, The Only Way To Kill You, will be released May 1st under license to Ninth Street Opus Records. The single "Black Crow" made its debut on AOL’s Spinner and has received early support from KEXP and Portland’s KNRK. "Black Crow" along with "Tiger" are available on iTunes.
At its center, Greylag is Andrew Stonestreet and Daniel Dixon, who entered each other’s musical wavelengths in 2007 through a mutual acquaintance. When they started playing music together, the two immediately were attracted to each other’s sensibilities, and their friendship quickly followed suit. In a span of three months, Andrew and Daniel knocked out over 20 songs, the most refined of which are included in the EP. Along with the help of local musicians and friends who regularly join them on the road, the band laid down the album in four days.
Greylag’s sound hinges on meditative, hymn-like vocal harmonies, complimented by folksy, bluesy runs on the acoustic guitar that has been compared to "the falsetto of Bon Iver mixed with the acoustic side of Blitzen Trapper” (The Late Greats) and "a cleaner Local Natives with more folk, more roots, more of that warm fuzzy feeling" (Kentucky Seven).
In addition to touring with Augustana, Greylag will also be playing the Sasquatch Music Festival in May.
