Merge Records is turning 30 this year and they are celebrating once again with a multi-day music festival, dubbed MRG30.
MRG30 will take place July 24–27, 2019, in Carrboro and Durham, NC. The 4-day festival will celebrate the best of Merge, both present and future, by featuring an amazing lineup of more than 30 bands including Superchunk, the Mountain Goats, Waxahatchee, Lambchop, Ibibio Sound Machine, Hiss Golden Messenger, Wye Oak, Destroyer, Sneaks, and Swearin’.
Festival passes for MRG30 will go on sale this Friday, February 8, at 11 a.m. ET (limit 2 per customer). Each pass costs $215 (plus service fees) and will admit the passholder to all festival venues over all four days. Be aware that pass quantities are extremely limited, so no snoozin’!
The MRG30 kick-off show featuring Teenage Fanclub, Eric Bachmann, and The Love Language will be held March 18 at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC. Tickets are on sale now, and we cannot wait to get the party started!
In other Merge 30 news, our 2019 vinyl subscription called Born Under a Good Sign is off to an exciting start: A Merge Group Performs “Heroes” was delivered to subscribers last month to great fanfare! If you missed out on the chance to subscribe, you can hear the album in full, and perhaps even find a copy on black vinyl at your local independent record store, beginning February 8. To tide you over, listen to the group’s rendition of the Bowie album’s title track. Proceeds from A Merge Group Performs “Heroes” will benefit RAICES.
