Tank and The Bangas Return With New Album ‘Green Balloon’ May 3rd

Breakout New Orleans-based five-piece Tank and The Bangas return with their highly anticipated new album, Green Balloon, which is set for release on May 3 via Verve Forecast. Green Balloon follows the release of the band’s 2013 debut album, Think Tank.

Additionally, “Ants,” the second track to be revealed from the record, premieres on NPR Music, who proclaims, “The video for the new single…narrates her stream-of-conscious flow with hand-drawn visuals as animated as Tank’s trademark soul.” Check it out below…

Green Balloon represents a musical evolution for the group who called upon producers Jack Splash, Mark Batson, Zaytoven, Louie Lastic and Robert Glasper to help capture their vision. “Green Balloon is a sister to Think Tank,” says lead singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball. “Think Tank was 12, and Green Balloon is 16 and having sex. She’s out there.”

“It’s like colors or something,” says The Bangas. “Everything we’re influenced by we don’t have a problem putting on a record because we don’t feel like we’re stuck in one lane.” Ball adds, “When we’re creating, we are creating. We never say: that sounded too blues-y, that sounded too country, that’s too hip-hop. It’s just that’s what this feels like, so let’s push that feeling to its completion, make it feel good.” Overall, the band is no longer waiting for their own green light to get going. The green light is here and Tank and The Bangas are ready to take flight.

In support of the release, the group confirms an extensive run of North American tour dates this fall. The performances include stops at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Boston Calling, Firefly Music Festival, Fortress Festival, Rhythm N’ Blooms Music Festival and more.
