Vermont Singer-Songwriter Joe Adler Recording Debut With Burlington Indie Folk Artists

Vermont songwriter Joe Adler, along with a who’s who of the Burlington, VT underground indie folk scene, is recording his debut studio album titled Many Things & Many Scenes. Adler is known for playing in local VT groups The Wee Folkestra and The Wind Woods, and has toured the northeast as a solo artist opening for folk troubadour Nathan Moore. Adler has collaborated on stage live with such notables as Brad Barr (The Slip), Russ Lawton (Trey Anastasio), Marco Benevento, Yah Yah Abdel-Majid (Sun Ra Arkestra), Craig Myers (Barika, Rubblebucket), and Dave Dreiwitz (Ween).

Veteran Vermont producer Brett Hughes, who produced the Surprise Me Mr Davis album That Man Eats Morning for Breakfast is at the helm.  Hughes, an original member of legendary act viperHOUSE and, Phish bassist, Mike Gordon’s short lived honky tonk outfit Ramble Dove, has been friends with Adler for a few years and when it came time to pick a producer for this project, there was no question.

The local musicians who are slated to perform on the album are some of Vermont’s finest: Rob Morse (Vorcza), Kat Wright & Josh Weinstein (The Indomitable Soul Band), Corey Wilhelm (Shelly Shredder), Jake Gold (Bearquarium), Eric Segalstad, Zack duPont (Japhy Ryder), musical saw mistress Johnnie Day, Aya Inoue (The Amida Bourbon Project), Luke Laplant (Electric Sorcery), Samara Lark (Mildred Moody), Harrison Shulman (Project Organ Trio), Lee Anderson, Sarah Grant (Fly by Night) and Greg Alexander.

Like many artists these days, Adler is running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project under the guise of simply pre-ordering the album. You can view the campaign here. The album is slated for release in early 2013.
