VIDEO PREMIERE: Eva Gardner (Bassist for P!NK/Tegan & Sara) Delivers Art Punk & Glamour via “Dirty Bird”

Eva Gardner bassist for P!NK/Tegan & Sara and daughter of Kim Gardner from the Creation is gearing up to release her debut EP, Chasing Ghosts, which is set to drop on June 14th.

Eva wrote Chasing Ghosts in hotel rooms all over the world while on tour as a bassist for various artists. Songwriting is a cathartic experience for Eva, who sees it as another facet of her musical expression. Five of these songs were compiled to create her first release as a solo-artist. On a tour break, Eva brought these songs to friends and former Telstar band-mates Chris Unck (Butch Walker, Lisa Loeb) and Stew Heyduk (Feist, The Golden Dogs) at Hi-Lonesome Studio in Joshua Tree, California. There, they fine-tuned the recordings done on the road. “Chasing Ghosts” was produced by Eva Gardner, Chris Unck and Stew Heyduk, engineered and mixed by Chris Unck and Gene Evaro Jr. and mastered by Chris Unck.

Glide is proud to premiere the video for “Dirty Bird,” (below) – an infectious single that delivers punk rock anguish and new wave hooks. Gardner has the boisterous showmanship and contagious songwriting chops to vault her as a Karen O type rocker darling.

Set in a vintage Hollywood Hills home, the music video for “Dirty Bird” explores a retro playfulness. Produced, directed and edited by Jessamyn Violet, the shots are kept energetically light while maintaining a dark and sexy appeal. There is a nostalgic tone throughout, immediately established by the phone dialing sound in the song’s intro. Adding the visual retro phones and phone cords expand on this nostalgic appeal. Eva Gardner’s performance in the video is a nod to both the 1960s and the 1990s with a modern twist. Yet her character’s plight is universal and timeless – the quest for love and connection runs deep in the human experience.

“Eva’s an authentic musical legend, and showcasing her in a vintage Hollywood home sparked a sizzling natural chemistry that clearly shows in the shots,: says Violet.” “‘Dirty Bird’ has a universally relatable theme, but the challenge was keeping the shots both energetically light and also dark and sexy enough to do justice to the dueling forces of the song and it’s starring character. There’s such an incredible 90’s energy to the song that I wanted to expand on that, and since the phone dialing sample is used throughout the track, I just had to play with the nostalgia of old phones and cords.”
