SONG PREMIERE: Ceiling Spirits Combine Chilling Post Punk & Ambient Worlds On “Patterns”

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Mario Quadracci was set to begin recording Alpha Helix, the follow up to his Ceiling Spirits project’s lauded debut when Coronavirus forced the project, along with much of the world, into a state of pause. Unable to use other musicians to perform Alpha Helix’s compositions, Ceiling Spirits has become focused on analog modular synthesis more than ever before.  Quadracci has once again teamed up with legendary producer Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Wire, Nick Cave, Grizzly Bear…) for mixing, and used multiple-grammy-award-winning engineer Howie Weinberg for mastering. Alpha Helix will be released as its created with composed pieces featuring strings following its electronic, experimental tracks.

Glide is proud to premiere the lead single “Patterns” which explores the unforeseen consequences of seemingly meaningless interactions. The song combines textural arrangements of both the ambient and post-punk worlds, leaving a trail of Brian Eno and Tortoise- leaving us to ponder some valid questions:

What can come from a looped plucked guitar pattern that is slightly out of time cycling against rigid arpeggiated analog synths? How does a rising menace frame languid guitar bends? What makes the expected go astray? What catalyzes pandemonium? How does alien chaos recede again into harmless constituents?
