SONG PREMIERE: Cobra Man Dips Its Brand of LA Disco Into Bold Shades of Musical Neon via “Heatwave”

Cobra Man describes their style as “Los Angeles Power Disco,” but your reaction might be, “wtf -wasn’t the ’70s revival in the ’90s?” Well, hang on for a sec….

Creative honcho Andy Harry began writing and producing music for the Worble skate crew videos in 2016. After the release of “Manramp” Harry enlisted singer Sarah Rayne (Babes) to help write an original soundtrack for the Worble’s full-length film New Driveway.

New Driveway Soundtrack was released on Goner records in 2017 and the following year another Worble soundtrack “Toxic Planet” was released on Goner. Cobra Man has been featured in Thrasher Magazine, Adult Swim, Vice, and multiple films and TV shows.

The band formed a cult following in the skateboarding world and became known for their high energy spectacle shows.  In 2020 Cobra Man self released the single “Light Me Up” paired with the premiere of Thrasher Magazine web series Manramp. The band has been writing and recording their first album expected to be released in 2021.

Check out below the neo-disco craft of Cobra Man via the quirky “Heatwave” premiere. Mixing the neon funk of Chromeo and soulful adages that rekindle Toto and Mac Demarco, Cobra Man surely has their musical palette dipped in various polyester shades. “Heatwave” was written in the Fall of 2019 by Harry,Rayne, Isom Innis (Foster the People) and Bonnie McKee. The song was written about being locked in an apartment during a heatwave and using dating apps to find people with air conditioning.
