The four members of Secondhand Sound all came together through music, forming the band when they met in college in 2018. They’ve all since dropped out, taking jobs at coffee shops, restaurants, and a car dealership to make rent and save money for touring and recording. If it sounds like a leap of faith, the long history between band members gives them ample reason to believe in each other.
Epic and profound, dig into “Dominoes,” the new single from “Secondhand Sound.” This echoey track serves as a refreshing take on triumphant alt-rock with vibrant vocals via lead singer Sawyer John Estok. Big guitar hooks swirl through a structurally tight sonic landscape as “Dominoes” proves itself an urgent rock expression for fans of early Weezer and Grizzly Bear.
“The goal of “Dominoes” from conception to the studio was to capture what it feels like to have butterflies in your stomach feeling right before you decide to take a risk and lean in for that kiss. I had that feeling in mind with every lyric and guitar tone I decided on. The song was designed to take you on a ride, very similar to the situation/experience I describe within the lyrics. Hopefully, it translates to the listeners well and maybe they’ll throw it in while they find themselves in similar situations,” says the band.
