SONG/VIDEO PREMIERE: Dylan Chambers Comes Out Swingin’ On Funky “Me Vs. Me”

It would be blasphemy to compare anyone to James Brown, but it’s hard for Mr. Dynamite to not come to mind when listening to Dylan Chambers’ new track “Me vs. Me.” Right from the get-go, Chambers comes out swinging with a tight funk workout that is slinky, smirky, and sharp, where the band hits hard and the frontman is the star. Glide is premiering the song and video for this supercharged modern funk number that retains a middleweight modern soul legitimacy.

Chambers links up again with trusty producer Stefan Litrownik (Boyz II Men, Andy Grammer) on this throwback soul number that showcases Chamber’s effortless word flow and versatile vocal range. The accompanying visual for “Me Vs. Me” features vibrant, retro aesthetics reminiscent of The Ed Sullivan Show, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, and an actual boxing ring where Chambers battles himself. Check it out below...

“During this time, I remember coming up with a funky guitar riff that I fantasized James Brown dancing to. I idolize him and challenge myself at times to write something I feel he would have liked. I showed it to my good friend and fellow collaborator, Stefan Litrownik (who I’ve been working with, on all the songs I’ve released over the past year) and he liked it too. We started throwing out lyrical ideas to go with it and at one point he said, “It’s got a lot of energy and I’m picturing this epic fight. Ya know? Sort of like in a comic book or a cartoon.” Then, the flood gates opened and we decided to write the song from the point of view of me fighting my ego. We thought it would be fun to really exaggerate the concept and make it appear as if it were an international fight like Ali vs. Frazier at Madison Square Garden in ‘71,” says Chambers about the track.
