LISTEN: The Secret Beach Brings Bedroom Folk Wit & Candor On “God Is”

The Secret Beach is the moniker used by bedroom folk artist, Micah Erenberg, who’s refreshingly plainspoken candor has become a dominant through-line in the singer/songwriter’s ever-expanding catalog. Whether releasing records under his own name, or lending his talents as a producer, Erenberg exists in a constant whirlpool of creation. This latest offering, Songs From The Secret Beach, finds beauty in the mundanity of daily life. Produced by Erenberg, and mixed by revered producer/engineer Rob Schnapf (Kurt Vile, Beck, Cass Mccombs), this collection is at once an exercise in restraint, as well as an arrestingly lush exploration of sonic possibility.

On “God Is”, the latest single from The Secret Beach, bedroom folk artist Micah Erenberg explores the co-existence of God and man through everyday, and often not very charming, situations with razor-sharp wit and candor. Presented in an amiable, almost playful folk arrangement like Regina Spektor’s “God Is Good,” Erenberg’s earnest vocals answer the question “What if God was one of us?” by injecting God into all the intimate ins and outs of human existence, warts and all. The Secret Beach’s full-length album will be released August 24th LP release (Victory Pool Records).
