SONG PREMIERE: Plastic Harpoons Flawlessly Blend Classic Rock & Americana On Angelic “Modern World”

Santa Barbara-based indie-rock project Plastic Harpoons recently announced a new LP entitled Modern World (out October 21 via Lolipop Records). Glide is premiering the record’s title track, “Modern World,” a soothingly melodic, bouncy track built on a foundation of southern twang and angelic choral harmonies, putting their unique incorporation of classic rock, Americana, and power pop on display. Thematically, it relays a message of restlessness and being fed up with the way in which the world is led by social media and technology-based communication.

Speaking on their newest track, vocalist Taylor Casey wrote:

“This was the first song that I wrote during Covid. We were a couple of weeks into quarantine and I was pissed. I’m an extrovert and I couldn’t see my friends. I was stuck at home staring at a screen just to talk with them and spending too much time on social media. I decided that I needed to purposely make a change and start playing music more. I usually don’t like to write with other people around and my girlfriend was quarantined with me so I had zero alone time. I forced myself to get over it and this song popped out a day later.”

Plastic Harpoons’ newest track “Modern World” is out tomorrow, and their upcoming LP of the same name is out this October via Lolipop Records.
