LISTEN: Jacob Milstein Carves Up Heartfelt Minimalist Folk On “When The Sun Comes Up”

Jacob Milstein is a Nashville-based songwriter. Other singles this year include Old Timer, Appreciation, and Lonesome in Your Skin. Drawing from a large catalog, he and his merry “fusion… but ancient” band regularly perform three-hour all-original sets around the vibrant East Nashville scene. Expect vivid sonic departures from upcoming releases.

“When the Sun Comes Up” from Jacob Milstein is a heartfelt, stripped-down new single that straddles the line between current Americana and the folk-rock heyday of the early 70s. Milstein’s soft-spoken vocals are as disarming and compelling as Jackson Browne while the minimal yet effective instrumentation and production put the listener right in the middle of his East Nashville living room. The John Mofield-directed video of Milstein taking the buzzer to his long longs adds a nice accompaniment to the song’s themes of transition out of loneliness.
