Kowloon is a musician and filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. His debut album, ‘Come Over’, was written, performed, recorded, and mixed in his home studio in the industrial outskirts of the city. Blending vintage synths, drum machines, and bubbling bass lines ‘Come Over’ is 35 minutes of danceable love songs – albeit love songs set in a time of digital malaise and looming ecological catastrophe, with anxious, dread-filled lyrics that are as timely as they are post-apocalyptic.
“Back Again”, the latest single from Kowloon, brings classic elements of 80’s Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel to the waning days of summer 2022. The restrained vocals deliver stories of small personal triumphs in a never-ending wave of catchy hooks capable of shaking off all your existential doldrums. Once the melody inevitably gets stuck in your brain, there are plenty of winding bass lines, bending synths and guitars, and syncopated percussion tracks to give the track a compelling and lasting quality.
