Space Equator is the project of Brendan Fillingham, Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. As a live band, the music takes on flavors of progressive rock and jazz fusion, with the help of musical friends Sam Chown (Shmu), Lionel (Vinyl) Williams, Richard Theisan (Mt.Ossa), Christian Peters (Deep Fields), and Anton Hocheim (Always you, Beach Fossils).
Beginning with the cascading guitar chords and synthed-out airy vocals, the single “Keep Me Down” from Space Equator is an attention-grabbing psych-pop trek with plenty of rewards for the adventurous ear throughout. Skillfully orchestrated instrumental seques sandwiched tastefully between the motirik-driven verses keep the mood playful while displaying an artist willing to take risks that pay off in the end.
