In 2015, multi-faceted artist Anderson .Paak and super producer Knxwledge started an exchange on Twitter, innocent enough but what came out of this social media powwow would go on to be one of the most talked about albums of the past few years. After their internet interaction, Knxwledge sent over some instrumentals for .Paak, their debut and future hit singles “Suede” and “Link Up” came out of this and thus, NxWorries was born. The following year the duo released their debut album as a group, Yes Lawd was released in 2016 via Stones Throw Records and was greeted with wide critical acclaim. An album of remixes surfaced the following year but since then, there has been radio silence from the praised duo, until now. Today (October 19), ears finally got new music from .Paak and Knxwledge in the form of their brand new single “Where I Go” featuring the Grammy winning vocalist H.E.R. The single is accompanied by a music video directed by .Paak himself.
The new single picks up right where NxWorries left off, a sweltering R&B tune laced with velvet undertones and smooth production. .Paak’s signature rasp and melodic verses never seemed more at home over Knxwledge’s minimalistic approach to the instrumental. “Where I Go” is the first we’ve heard from the duo since their explosive debut and they couldn’t have returned any stronger, the natural chemistry between the two artists continues to shine and amaze. No direct word on if a sophomore album is in the works but this new single is a step in the right direction for fans of NxWorries.
