Danish shoegaze outfit ONBC is back with another cavernous single led by double lead vocals that create an intoxicating melodic haze. “Andromeda” (below), off the upcoming full-length album Dark Matter, starts with a commanding, segmented drum pattern and maintains a quiet intensity through a swirling array of keys and guitars that would make a fitting soundtrack for all your interplanetary travel scenes.
ONBC formed in 2014 from the ashes of the trio Oliver North Boy Choir. The band is composed of Tanja Simonsen on vocals and keys, Camilla Florentz on vocals and bass, guitarist Mikkel Max Hansen, drummer Ivan Petersen, Florentz’ bass, and Simonsen’s keys.
ONBC released their debut album Crash, Burn & Cry on Crunchy Frog in 2015. Travelmate, their second album, came out at the end of 2017 along with an ambitious, year-long video project – a collaboration between fans and the band. In September 2020, ONBC released Forty Thousand Tears; an EP comprised of five cover songs: R.E.M.’s Texarkana, Billy Bragg’s A New England, Trille’s Lille Sol, Yo La Tengo’s Shadows and Bill Ryder-Jones’ Tell Me You Don’t Love Me Watching.
