Earlier this year, The storied English rock icons The Cure announced they will be making a trip to the States for their first North American tour since 2016. The band initially announced the tour earlier in March and today (April 5), the band has added four extra shows to their upcoming trip overseas. The band has added extra shows in San Diego (May 21), Montreal (June 17), and Atlanta, Georgia (June 28). Along with these extended stays, The Cure has added a show in Portland, Oregon at the Moda Center on May 31 but this fourth show is being labeled an “experiment” by the band. This show is doubling as a means for the band to check if the non-transferable ticketing is enough to stop jaw-dropping resale prices on the first slew of tickets released.
Ticket prices have been at the center of the anticipation for The Cure’s return to North America. When the first dates were announced they came with a promise from the band to keep ticket prices as reasonable as possible, fans were looking at $40 tickets to The Cure’s upcoming tour. The ever-popular yet highly questionable ticketing service Ticketmaster, however, had other plans. They were tacking on service fees that more than doubled the original ticket prices, bouncing those $40 prices up to over $80. Between service fees and resale pricing, The Cure fans were looking at a financial barrier between them and their favorite band; this newly added show in Portland is meant to test the waters of Ticketmaster’s non-transferable tickets.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 7 with Verified Fans who had trouble with their early access codes on the initial release of tickets getting first grabs on Thursday (April 6). All tickets will be non-transferable and fans will be limited to four tickets per purchase via The Cure’s official website. Check out the full list of dates below:
