SONG PREMIERE: The Rifters Enchant With Southwestern Americana On “The Circle”

The Enchanted World (due out 4/7), on Howlin’ Dog Records is the seventh album release from the northern New Mexico-based trio The Rifters. The Rifters are known across the Southwest and beyond for their “Southwestern Americana”  rhythmic acoustic-based music, featuring superb musicianship and soaring harmonies, reflecting the high desert land of mountains, mesas, valleys and canyons they call home.

The album features 14 songs, 10 of which are originals or co-writes. Several of the songs in The Enchanted World are an homage to the ranching and western life, with all of its idiosyncrasies and challenges, and the glory of the landscape of the ranching west.

Glide is premiering “The Circle” from The Rifters, a ’70s singer-songwriter gem in the vein of Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Croce. Listening to the acoustic interplay and well-worn vocals takes listeners back to the simpler days of folk when Americana was run by The Eagles and Jackson Browne.

  1. One of New Mexico’s true natural treasures — The Rifters — weaving their magic melody in this ode to challenges to ranching in the West in these times of undeniable changes in snowfall and other once-predictable weather. Thanks boys for keeping it real!

  2. Love it, as everything you guys do! Hope to see y’all this summer in La Veta ????

  3. “Circle” by The Rifters is such a pleasure to listen to! One hears every note of every instrument and of every voice, pure and clear like a mountain stream.
