LISTEN: Marika Christine Brings Breezy Bay Area Sound On Rhythmic “Music and Heart”

There’s something to Marika Christine’s sound on her new single “Music and Heart” that just gushes with quintessential Bay Area sound. Her breezy vocal performance with an admirable tonal and melodic range is an immediate selling point, but as the band really gets going it’s easy to hear this is an A-team of musicians at play here. Drummer Fabrizio Incerti lilts between feels with such effortless precision it’s hard to notice that the song does take quite a few rhythmic turns. Pianist Adam Wilson is a welcomed and breathtaking addition to the overall sound and feel of this track as well. Lyrically, Marika has created something relatable and honest that should be listened to intently.

“The beauty of this song lies in the universal story of struggling to make ends meet as an artist in a big city. Imagine yourself at the end of an 8-hour food service shift that barely covers the cost of renting a tiny room in San Francisco. Feel the constant pain in your body from standing up all day. Music and Heart is a reminder of what makes the struggle worth it for a young artist – the shadows during golden hour, the old Victorian houses, and most importantly, the music and the heart of the people who make the city unique,” says Christine.
