ANOHNI – “It Must Change”
My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross
ANOHNI made quite an impression with her 2016 debut, now the borderless New York-based artist has announced the long-awaited follow-up. My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross is set to be released on July 7 via Secretly Canadian and Rough Trade and we are being introduced to the new project via her latest single. “It Must Change” features beautifully haunting vocals of ANOHNI over sparse rhythms and spurts of string sections to create an atmosphere of lushness to combat the harshness of the lyrics.
Jai Wolf – “(I Dread The Day He Takes You To) Paris”
Single
Ahead of his freshly announced summer tour, which will have the artist traversing North America for the majority of 2023, Jai Wolf releases an infectious new single to bring on the road. “Paris” for short, features a neck-breaking drum loop that doubles as a backdrop for the hushed vocals from Wolf to create a dream-like pop tune with just enough explosiveness to keep the song from sounding too sugary.
Spoon – “Sugar Babies”
Memory Dust – EP
The latest single from the legendary Spoon gives us a look into a studio session before launching into a bluesy rock masterpiece. “Sugar Babies” is off of Spoon’s upcoming Memory Dust EP set to be released on June 13 via Matador Records. “Sugar Babies” is top-tier Spoon music, the band deploys their natural sense of tone to create a dusty arrangement that refuses to stay complacent.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Gila Monster”
PETRODRAGONIC APOCALYPSE; OR, DAWN OF ETERNAL NIGHT: AN ANNIHILATION OF PLANET EARTH AND THE BEGINNING OF MERCILESS DAMNATION
Yes, that is the full name of King Gizzard’s upcoming LP, no we will not fully type it out again. Regardless of that, the prolific rockers shed their skin to morph into a death metal band for “Gila Monster”, our first look from the upcoming album which is due out on June 16. The raspy vocals are greeted with a wall of distortion to create a dense track that still has that free-spirited nature that flows through every release from King Gizzard.
Chris Farren – “Cosmic Leash”
Doom Singer
The elusive and multifaceted artist Chris Farren has made his triumphant return with the undeniably impressive single, “Cosmic Leash”. The single is lifted from Farren’s upcoming LP Doom Singer which is set to be released on August 4 via Polyvinyl Record Co. Farren takes you through a tornado of emotions on his latest single, displaying throat-scratching vocals that bend around a dense arrangement only for the song to slow down to ballad-like proportions as Farren heads into his new album with a bag of new tricks.

Fans have been waiting for this moment since the two made their debut together back in 2016, “Daydreaming” is the single we’ve been waiting for. Paak’s smooth vocals go ever so nicely with Knx’s borderless approach to production, combining for a luxurious sound.

King Krule – “If Only It Was Warmth”
Space Heavy
No one does melancholy like King Krule and the latest single from his upcoming album has him reaching a new level of intimate sadness. “If Only It Was Warmth” is an atmospheric single that leans on ambiance to push the longing in Krule’s singing, creating a gloomy feeling on the brightest of days. The song is off of Krule’s upcoming Space Heavy LP which is set to be released on June 9.
Blur – “The Narcissist”
The Ballad of Darren
You’re reading that correctly, the legendary Blur has made its triumphant return to recorded music. The band has not released any music since 2015’s The Magic Whip LP but if 2023 has shown us anything, it’s to expect anything. “The Narcissist” reintroduces Blur as a more mature act with the fearless Damon Albarn leading the way with his expert songwriting while the band crafts a soft yet bouncy arrangement. The Ballad of Darren will be available on July 21.
Alex Lahey – “Permanent”
The Answer Is Always Yes
The time has finally arrived and we can now hear Alex Lahey’s brand new album.
