Legendary Singer & Icon Tina Turner Dies at 83

Legendary rock singer Tina Turner, known to many as ‘The Queen of Rock and Roll’ with her raspy dynamic lead vocals, and undeniable stage presence has died at the age of 83. The legendary singer died after a long illness at her home near Zurich in Switzerland, according to PA.

With one of the longest careers in rock history including an early successful career with husband Ike, Turner was one of the most talked about performers of the 60s.  Turner scored Billboard Top 40 hits across four decades, earning her Grammys, a Kennedy Center Honor, and entry into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Turner’s last live performance was in May 2009, as part of her 50th Anniversary tour.
