SONG PREMIERE: Worriers Set The Cozy Autumn Mood With Reflective “Cloudy and 55”

Lauren Denitzio of Worriers is a true rock and roll badass. With their soul-baring lyrics and indie rock guitar urgency, Denitzio is traveling alongside the musical path of such respected DIY bands as Yo La Tengo, Heartless Bastards, and Sharon Van Etten. Worriers is a project always in constant evolution, creating a soundtrack for the moment when creative fruition comes to place and the results have always been convincingly transcending.

On their first studio album in three years, Trust Your Gut, (out 9/15) Denitzio returns with a self-produced and pivotal release demonstrating the true depth and complexity of their career with the band.  Worriers became Denitzio’s main focus after the wake-up call of open-heart surgery at just 25 years old. The event shook them into leaving a toxic creative partnership and starting a band that could evolve along with them. That priority takes center stage on Trust Your Gut, as Denitzio’s 2019 move from the East Coast to Los Angeles found them collaborating with Atom Willard (Against Me!, Social Distortion) as a fun exercise, only to realize they had started writing the next album together.

The sonic goals for the album led to the addition of Denitzio’s friend Franz Nicolay (The Hold Steady) after tweeting that they were trying to write in his style. His response was “Send me demos!” and the results are now foundational melodies layered throughout the album.

Glide is premiering the reflective “Cloudy and 55” off of Trust Your Gut, a reflective tune just in time for autumn, which will have the listener reminiscing about their favorite mellow Velvet Underground album.

“This song is for your soundtrack to missing Autumn in New York, where every corner has a memory you can’t shake. It’s my song for walking down 5th Avenue in Brooklyn in a denim jacket with big headphones on after it rains when you need to transport yourself back to a different season of your life. It’s not just about the longing for a specific place or time but also about having a deep history with a city where it just becomes a part of you and your relationships. It’s about missing someone in the way where you still see them everywhere,” says Denitzio.
