Full of delicate vocals and graceful orchestrations, the debut single “Much of Anything from Ethiopian-American songwriter and violinist Beti Masenqo arrives on the scene with a sense of fully formed maturity. Drawing inspiration from classical music, folk, and traditional Ethiopian modes, Masenqo navigates the unsteady waters of new love with remorseful confidence over a steady rhythmic pulse and beautifully stacked melodies.
“Much of Anything was born of a premonition – about a loss of love that I felt in my heart was imminent, even though I didn’t really have a reason to think that. The uplifting string layers and horns provide a stark contrast to the lyrical content,” says Masenqo.
