The Resonant Rogues are Keith Josiah Smith and Sparrow. Keith (guitar, vocals) grew up in the punk scene and started hopping trains at 18, riding the rails all over the country and busking for a living. Sparrow (vocals, banjo, accordion) grew up performing everything from music and dance to figure skating, and she was even a circus performer.
A true traveling song at its heart, the Resonant Rogues deliver a scorcher on their new single “Leave The Path”. With cutting fiddle, tasteful guitar lines, and a swath of well-placed instrumental touches, Sparrow’s vocal sits organically in a sea of strings. A tasteful interpretation of a classic feel, “Leave The Path” blends traditional and Appalachian music with modern flair in a simply delightful way.
“This one’s for the travelers. I reflect often on the wild times I’ve had, and then I remember that I never grew out of that adventurous impulse. I grew up doing a lot of backpacking with my dad, and then graduated to riding freight trains and hitchhiking around the country before settling on a life as a touring musician. I see a lot of folks feel stuck in a rut of what they are “supposed” to do, and I wanted to just give a little encouragement to get off the beaten path,” says Sparrow.
