Raised in the Hudson Valley and currently based in Brooklyn, Meir Levine blends his folk-rock nostalgia for the 1970’s with a modern indie sensibility. He recorded his upcoming EP with acclaimed engineer D. James Goodwin (The Hold Steady, Bonny Light Horseman, Bob Weir, Kevin Morby, Watchhouse), with producer Andrew Freedman (Henry Jamison, Michael Mayo), and acclaimed players including Josh Kaufman, (Bonny Light Horseman, Bon Iver, The National, Anais Mitchell), Jordan Rose (Theo Katzman, Charlie Hunter), Mike Robinson (Sarah Jarosz, Railroad Earth), and Jeremy McDonald (Mason Jar Music, Louis Cato) among others; more details to be announced. With past projects, Meir has played stages from the iconic Brooklyn Bowl, Music Hall of Williamsburg, and Bowery Ballroom to the renowned Carnegie Hall.

Today Glide is excited to premiere the video for the standout track “All Your Worries,” a slowburning work of intimate and soulful folk that finds Meir’s warm vocals on full display. Rich harmonies and the subtle atmospheric twang of a pedal steel give this song a sort of poignant wisdom that brings to mind artists like Hiss Golden Messenger, Bonny Light Horseman and Bon Iver, all of whom Meir cites as inspirations behind the sound. There is a sweeping sense of drama and emotion in this song that is captured visually in a sequence of events that finds the video’s protagonist seemingly at rock bottom before a shocking final scene. If “All Your Worries” is any indication of what we can expect from Meir, he is most definitely an artist to watch.

Meir Levine describes the inspiration behind the track:

When I was writing this EP I had really just started exploring the magic open tunings. I’ve been incredibly inspired by artists like Hiss Golden Messenger, Bonny Light Horseman and Bon Iver and the way they utilize open tunings to really lean into the feelings of melancholy and longing. The recording was a true collaborative effort and Josh Kaufman’s guitars really tie this together. A special shoutout to Jeremy McDonald for his wizardry on this one.

While discussing how to best represent this song visually, Esther (Shpiegleman) who has become a cherished collaborator & I really wanted to highlight the cinematic trajectory of the arrangement and when she suggested “do you want get beat up on camera?” my response was “tell me when to be there”.
