Of all the tags and musical descriptions, we come across here at Glide, perhaps the most animated and well-described is “cinematic psych-country duo”. Take what you want from it, but I think that surely warrants a listen and takes you down the road of where The Cramps and The Meat Puppets jam with Gram Parsons and the Fallen Angels. Atlanta duo Andrea & Mud (Andrea Colburn and Kyle “Mud” Moseley) are the wearers of that profound description and have a new album Institutionalized out on April 19th.

The duo found themselves living in a converted barn in the middle of nowhere in Northern Georgia. There they wrote the songs that make up Institutionalized (out Apr. 19). On this record, they dig into their deepest, darkest cores to mine the essence of what made classic country great—putting their relationship and mental health issues front and center.

“I come from a generation where we didn’t take medication,” says Colburn. “We didn’t go to therapy. We were supposed to just smile and get through it. I think a lot of people still live like that. Music is therapy for some people. I know it is for me.”

Glide is premiering the video for “This Time” which illuminates with a stunning simplicity of timeless country, a classic bar setting where dreams are often lost but new ones are later imagined.

“This Time” is a note to self song. It begs the clairvoyance of a listener that’s going beyond pickling their liver. The line, “Please don’t do that this time,” hints at the frequency of overindulgence,” says Mud. “The tune name drops a few serial over-indulgers to point out that although glorified in songs and other media types, (alcohol) addictions/problems will tear your mental ability down, incapacitate your emotional maturity, and force you to the wrong side of the sod. Shooting Todd falling off the bar stool in the video with a full beer was hilarious.”
