LISTEN: Chelsea Days Touches On Mac Demarco Jazzy Bedroom Pop Via “Cruel World”

Chelsea Days is an Indie/Alternative band from Oklahoma City. The band formed in 2019, where they began releasing singles leading up to the pandemic. In 2021, the band started recording their debut album on a Tascam-38 at their home studio (Average Ear). The band then began to collaborate with producer Jarod Evans of BlackWatch Studios in Norman, OK. The group continued work on the album at Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso, TX.

Combining eerie vocal tones with lush post-punk bliss, Chelsea Days creates a statement piece with “Cruel World”. The band implemented groovy touches of jazz into their rock tendencies for an infectious single with hypnotic syncopation. The gentle falsetto delivers poetic songwriting over a bed of influences that range from psychedelic rock to subtle bedroom pop. “Cruel World” introduces Chelsea Days as sonic chameleons, able to blend their experiences with their influences to land on a sound they can call their own.
