SONG/VIDEO PREMIERE: Cole Gallagher Displays Explosive ’70s Era Rock Chops On “Don’t You Know”

I’m very influenced by the big singer-songwriters from the ’60s onward–Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Tom Petty, Warren Zevon,” says Nashville-based singer/songwriter Cole Gallagher. “They were trying to make sense of the times they lived in, but when I heard them, I felt like they were speaking to me at that moment.”

As new musical generations emerge, it’s refreshing to know a certain breed leans heavily on the rock world’s “greatest generation” of artists for inspiration. With explosive anguish and a backwoods howl, Gallagher has found a way to turn his quiet strength into a visceral command of atonement and urgency.

On his debut EP, The Confluence released in late 2023, Gallagher establishes himself as a multi-faceted songwriter, singer, and musician. Produced, engineered, and mixed by multiple Grammy winner Vance Powell(whose credits include Phish, Chris Stapleton, and Jack White, among others), the record brims with lovingly detailed arrangements and exuberant musicianship on which Gallagher lets listeners in on feelings and observations, both stormy and sentimental.

Gallagher is back with the new single “Don’t You Know” along with a video shot in the high desert of California which finds Cole caught amid a revenge story. Glide is premiering both the song and video which hones in on the explosive vocals of Marcus King while brimming with the detailed song narratives of Jason Isbell.

“This music video is dark, vampy and gritty, but it also tells the story of this song perfectly in an extremely hyperbolized version of reality. I think it’s going to shock people a little bit, and maybe even scare people. It scared everybody on set while we were filming it. However, the actors, Alexander Karavay and Samantha Violet, did an incredible job, and the director Andrea Jako and co-writer Ernestte Bejar helped me bring this song to life on the screen in a really cool way. We all had a blast making this. I sure hope people enjoy watching it,” says Gallagher
