If Tool represents Maynard’s masculine side, and A Perfect Circle is that of his feminine side, then Puscifer is clearly the best representation of his inner weirdo. So, to round out our salute to all things Maynard this week, for his 60th birthday today, we’re spotlighting his most subversive band with this bizarre performance of “The Remedy” live from 2016.
As most fans are no doubt aware, you never really know what you’ll see at a Puscifer show, but it’s safe to say that you will be entertained, to say the least. Such was the case in this clip, which features a masked Maynard (with glasses under the mask of course), performing with a full-on professional wrestling match going on behind him. It doesn’t go with the music at all, which only makes it that much more surreal and hilarious, which is kind of a good microcosm of Puscifer as a whole. It’s no secret Maynard has quite a devoted following and that a good portion of that fanbase probably takes him a tad too seriously, so it must be liberating to consistently defy expectations and fly in the face of that via Puscifer. Happy 60th Maynard. Keep it weird.
