Soul Coughing Announce Reunion Tour After 25-Year Hiatus

After adamantly denying any notion that hinted at a reunion, Soul Coughing has announced a reunion tour. The 17-date tour marks their first shows in 25 years and kicks off in Solana Beach on September 11. It will finish with a two-night stay at Brooklyn Steel on October 4 and 5. Another highlight is a two-night stint at The Fillmore in San Francisco, which takes place on September 14 and 15.

Since the release of their third and final studio album, 1998’s El Oso, things have been quiet for Mike Doughty, Mark degli Antoni, Sebastian Steinberg, and Yuval Gabay. The quartet initially met in the early 90’s while exploring the depths of New York City’s experimental scene. Not only did they find a home for their love of danceable experimentation, but Soul Coughing also became an active member of the scene. Their 1994 debut, Ruby Vroom, introduced us to the band’s deep passion for poetry and off-kilter instrumentation. The album’s follow-up, 1996’s Irresistible Bliss, saw the band diving head first into their loftiest ideas and spinning them into hip-hop-tinged industrial rock.

Since their official disbandment in 2000, Soul Coughing has released several live albums. Now, it is the time to witness those post-breakup LPs come to life after over two decades. The band will hit Denver, Salt Lake City, and Chicago along with the two-night stays. You can check out their complete fall schedule below.
