Isaac Watters is a multimedia artist in the purest sense of the word. From piecing together his visual art to having a deep passion for analog recording techniques, Watters wants to be involved in anything creative, which explains his prolific output and meticulous release plans. Since 2022, Watters has been crafting lo-fi folk jams with psychedelic undertones, each song carefully released and placed on two different EPs. Extended Play 001 arrived in January 2023, featuring the poetically hypnotic “Listen to the Wind.” Extended Play 002 was released in August of that same year, holding another four releases that employed eerie tones to emphasize the longing in the songwriting. These two EPs and more will be featured on Watters’ upcoming full-length debut, which will be released this summer and feature the recently released single “Tired.”

The quaint waltz of Watters’ “Tired” evokes a dizzying sensation that grows in irresistibility after every listen. An innocent rawness circles around the room upon pressing play, a similar feeling you may get after handing in an extensive report at work or finally sitting in your own home after weeks of traveling. The gentle ambiance of the arrangement acts as a funny-shaped cloud that glides across the off-kilter vocal melodies. This stunning sonic marriage is only interrupted by distorted guitar solos. The song evokes the emotion it is named after, as Watters songwriting toes the line between blunt and vague, with each word being delivered via quaking vocal tones. Multiple times, the longing in Watters’s voice can muster up the phrase “Tired of trying to stand up,” a sentiment that encapsulates the single. The artist pens from a place where even the simplest motor function feels exhausting, adding a dark element to the experimental folk of “Tired.” Watters is on the verge of a break-out year with a debut full-length on the way and “Tired” being a trance-inducing must-listen.

“This feels like the record I was always trying to make,” explains Watters. “This has been a long time coming, and now it’s the time to see what this music does.”
