Although Bob Dylan’s track record as a songwriter is practically unrivaled, even the most ardent Dylanites would have to admit that he doesn’t always deliver the goods in a live setting. In fairness, Bob has been making a habit of defying audience expectations his entire career, rarely giving us what we want, but that’s all part of what makes Bob, well, Bob. That said, every once in a while, all the stars align, and Bob straps on his guitar and earnestly plays the hits, which happened to be the case during his fantastic set at Woodstock ‘94.
Maybe he felt obliged after skipping the original festival way back in 1969, but in any event, Bob’s set at Woodstock ‘94 turned out to be one of the most well-received of the entire festival and seemed to be a catalyst that sparked his creative renaissance to come later in the decade with the release of Time Out of Mind.
