The song tells the evocative story of a solitary traveler journeying through a desolate desert at night. Indeed, there is a truly Southwestern feel to the song that masterfully incorporates the accordion into a twangy rock and roll sound to make for a work of desert noir that is as cinematic as it is musical. The song’s fusion of ranchera, banda, and rock elements underscores Joshua’s unique ability to honor Mexican musical traditions while incorporating a wide range of genres that are deeply rooted in the American rock and blues landscape. His innovative style positions him as a new voice in Latin music, one that bridges cultural divides while reflecting a modern sensibility.
Joshua Josué describes the inspiration behind the song:
“At the edge of Lago de Izaba, about 3 hours out site of Guatemala City l, I sat with a guitar I had just purchased in Flores. The loneliness of the highway, the stress of continually crossing these Central American borders on my motorcycle combined with missing my true love who waited for me back in Guadalajara was becoming too much. It was on that night that I sat in the quite of the jungle and wrote this song for her. “
