Tuesday’s Gone: Todd Rundgren’s Utopia Nails Melodic R&B Influenced Prog With “Seven Rays” Live 1975

While most know Todd Rundgren for his eclectic and often sensitive approach to sound and the occasional power ballad, he also had a prog band called Utopia that stretched things out and rocked very hard with his signature melodic flair. While Rundgren trimmed Utopia down in the late 70s to be more melodic, the early years are where most fans’ ears adhere. Check out Rundren and Utopia perform a stellar version of “Seven Rays”live in 1974 with Luther Vandross on backup vocals.
