Pickathon, the beloved independent music festival that takes place over the first weekend of August just outside of Portland, Oregon, threw a party to celebrate the lineup announcement for this, its 25th year. Though the party was intended to give local fans of the festival a first look at the lineup, it was published earlier in the day to little fanfare.
Pickathon founder Zale Schoenborn was on hand at Portland’s Showdown Saloon on Monday, February 24th, to guide the festivities and raffle off some tickets. Matt Wagner, the executive director of the new Creative Neighborhoods non-profit, joined Schoenborn to announce the winners of the weekend passes. The proceeds of the raffle will help fund the nonprofit, which will provide mentorship programs intended to educate as it brings together creative collaborations that design and create the unique ambience and immersive landscape Pickathon is known for.
Local artists Rose Gerber and Amos Heart and their respective bands provided the soundtrack of the evening, and both were appreciative that they will be playing Pickathon for the first time this year.
