Tommy Emmanuel’s immediate strum on the acoustic guitar sparks with a powerful gust of energy that one would expect from a five-piece electric band. The charm and vibrant showmanship Emmanuel exudes while performing is just another reason he’s a global treasure and ambassador for his instrument.
Add that sheer enlightenment of hearing that master perform at a prestigious venue like the Sydney Opera House, and the audible rewards are even more profound. The Australian-born and Nashville-based Grammy® Award winner’s new album Live At The Sydney Opera House is due out on Friday, March 21st, and Glide is premiering the song and video (below) for his novel rendition of Chet Atkins’ “Windy & Warm” off the album.
“Windy & Warm’ was the first song I heard by Chet Atkins, and the very first song I learned in thumb and fingerstyle,” says the acoustic guitarist extraordinaire/songwriter. “It was the song that everybody wanted to play but had so much trouble trying to play it. It’s a timeless classic with elements of blues, jazz, and country fused together into an irresistible cocktail of groove!”
“With this recording at The Sydney Opera House, I decided to recut this classic song in a much more traditional style, because I messed with it before making it funky and jazzier, so I took it back home! John D. Loudermilk wrote this song especially for Chet to record,” adds Emmanuel.
