King Cab is the new project of longtime collaborators and best friends Harry Jordan and Jof Cabedo. The pair has a rich history in the UK and European music scenes. Through their past projects, they’ve toured extensively, sharing stages with Wolf Alice, Wunderhorse, Ride, Teenage Fanclub, Twin Peaks, Working Men’s Club, Porridge Radio, and more.
Now, with King Cab, the duo is forging a new path—blending their experience and passion for songwriting into something fresh and exciting, blending melodic 70s soft-rock with the experimental nuances of 90s and 00s alt-rock. The band self-produced and mixed all their music from Harry’s Bam Bam Studios, where he has previously worked with acts like Daisy Brain, Big Sleep, Hallan, Bug Teeth, Michael B Thomas, and Big Warm Bed.
With a debut EP set for release in 2025, the duo released our first preview of the project in the form of hazy, psychedelic indie rock. “Behind The Boy” is a slow-burning, sentimental tune with impressive guitar work that collides with the drifting vocals for a sparse yet impactful performance. Everything about this single is poetic. From the mesmerizing arrangement that elevates the ethereal vocals to the words delivered by those vocals, “Behind The Boy” is a heartfelt ode to the past. Lyrically, King Cab explores the process of growing as a person while longing for the simplicity of the past, a tough contradiction that typically leaves a person feeling lost. Rather than dwell on past selves, King Cab brings this heaviness to the forefront and crafts a palpable ballad that introduces the duo’s individuality as a band. “Behind the Boy” is a moving performance with a wistfulness that blends beautifully with King Cab’s veteran musicianship.
