Over a decade ago, The Dead Daisies burst onto the music scene. Their mission, to create some good old fashioned 70’s style rock, gather some of the finest musicians in the world, and have a great time keeping rock music alive. As a powerhouse rock band celebrated for their soulful, blues-infused sound and dazzling performances they have consistently pushed the limits of rock music and remain dedicated to substance over style, driven by an unwavering work ethic and a relentless passion for their craft.
The Dead Daisies have gone from strength to strength since the release of their self-titled album in 2013 releasing ten albums to a growing army of fans worldwide and are praised by the global media in an era where Rock has been declared dead time and time again.
The band’s DNA includes an amazing collective of players that includes David Lowy, Doug Aldrich, John Corabi, Michael Devin, Tommy Clufetos, Glenn Hughes, Marco Mendoza, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Frank Ferrer, Darryl Jones, Charley Drayton, Deen Castronovo and Jon Stevens amongst others.
From the moment the band stepped into FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama they felt the weight of history around them. The iconic space, where legends like Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Etta James once recorded, inspired a late-night jam session that quickly became something much bigger. Producer Marti Frederiksen pressed record, and what started as impromptu fun turned into a full-fledged album – one that captures the blues in its purest, most electrifying form. Steeped in the raw energy and rebellious spirit that shaped rock ‘n’ roll, the album finds the band reimagining blues standards with the same firepower that has fueled their decade-long run.
Across ten powerhouse tracks, their new album Lookin’ For Trouble breathes new life into legendary songs, with The Dead Daisies putting their own stamp on each one. The band’s high-voltage take on Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads” – the song that gave rise to blues mythology, kicked off the album rollout with a scorching tribute to the Delta blues legend.
Today, Glide is excited to offer an exclusive premiere of a short documentary the band created around the recording of their album and their time in Muscle Shoals. What makes the documentary especially fascinating and much more than just a behind-the-scenes look at their work in the studio is the way they weave in the history of blues and rock and roll music with their own personal roots. The band simultaneously takes on the roles of musicians, historians, and observers as they offer a colorful look at this special place and how it has worked its way into their songs.
“Here’s a peek into the enlightening experience we all had as “music fans,” stepping into the world of the blues, and the legendary FAME studios, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Now when I say “enlightening,” we truly had a wide- eyed enthusiasm learning the history of the artists, and the songs, and why, when, and where the songs were written. I hope you enjoy this experience, as much as we did!!!!” – John Corabi
