LISTEN: 10 Foot Pole Return With Welcoming Yet Hectic Punk On “Finally the Guy”

10 Foot Pole is a garage funk band from Lexington, KY. The band consists of Brian Arnett on bass and vocals, Billy Quinn on guitar and vocals, David Farris on drums, and spice, John Turner on trumpet and vocals, and Willie Eames, also on guitar and vocals. After initially forming in the 90s, with a few tours and LPs under their belt, the band went on to start a slew of other projects. In May of 2025, 10 Foot Pole triumphantly returned with a prolific release schedule, releasing five singles in May with no sign of quitting in sight.

“Finally the Guy” is just a hint of what 10 Foot Pole has been up to since their return, and it is an infectious welcome home parade for the band. The punk-tinted, pop-leaning ripper of a single finds the band with a refreshing sense of confidence that leads them to Ohio, but this is not the Kentucky band that crossed borders into the Buckeye state in their early days. 10 Foot Pole sounds rejuvenated as they pack a plethora of powerful pop melodies into head-spinning punk tempos. At just over two minutes in length, “Finally the Guy” miraculously accomplishes a lot. The face-melting guitar work collides with the warm, lo-fi vocals in a sonic conflict that is overseen by steady yet neck-breaking drum patterns. All of this is a delivery system for the band’s subtle approach to braggadocious songwriting. Rather than flaunting themselves as something else, 10 Foot Pole shows up in Ohio with nothing but a new haircut and their veteran wits about them. “Finally the Guy” is just a sliver of what is shaping up to be a monumental comeback from 10 Foot Pole, but it is not a sliver you want to ignore. The band’s new single highlights the nuances of their approach while maintaining an undeniable energy that is colorful and immersive.
