Fieldress refuses to be boxed in. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes psychedelic indie pop—sometimes jazz? The Oakland-based project shapeshifts between genres, crafting dynamic, melancholic songs woven with haunting harmonies.

Founded in 2018 by Sasha Reynolds and Zach Farhney, Fieldress began as a two-piece band, with both musicians intertwining delicate yet expressive guitar lines to create rich, textured soundscapes. Over time, the project evolved into a full-band exploration of sound, now featuring Sasha Reynolds (lead vocals, guitar), Omi Golucino (bass), Marissa Deitz (cello, vocals), Phil Di Leo (guitar, vocals), and Francisco Camacho (drums).

At the heart of Fieldress is Sasha Reynolds, a devoted creator. Her artistry extends beyond music, shaping every aspect of the project with an unmistakable personal touch. That craftsmanship is especially present in the upcoming self-released vinyl edition of It’s a Lot, a testament to the band’s hands-on approach to their art. The band’s new album arrives on June 27.

With a refreshing approach to modern pop that knows no boundaries, Fieldress gets the world ready for their next LP with the hypnotic “Walls.” The band’s latest single is brimming with mesmerizing psychedelia with eerie undertones that give way to stunning musicianship and a head-spinning vocal performance. There is a slow-burn quality to “Walls” that lends the tune a haunting beauty, palpable enough to allow every moment to be felt deeply in the soul. Underneath the unpredictable guitar screeches and ghostly vocals are vague yet poetic lyrics that haunt the halls of the spacious arrangement. Lyrically, “Walls” displays a longing that is distilled into simplistic imagery, which still feels vibrant, a testament to Fieldress’s songwriting prowess and artistic awareness. “Walls” brings to life what feels like deeply personal emotions and makes them relatable, and that is only part of what makes Fieldress feel so magical. This is a band that plays by no rules, and with a moving new single and an album on the way, nothing seems to be in the way of Fieldress reaching new heights.

“‘Walls’ is easily one of my favorite songs from our upcoming album, It’s a Lot. With its wild transitions and uplifting energy, it’s impossible not to feel a rush of excitement while performing it,” explains the band. “I first started writing ‘Walls’ in 2016 with my friend Gracie Schatz in our band Lady Parts. I still remember the thrill of shaping its eerie opening and then deciding to let it burst into a rock-fueled release in the second half. Now, after evolving with my current band, hearing it in its final form is surreal. It’s been a long journey, and I feel so excited to finally share it.”
