LISTEN: Connie Roses Crafts Hypnotic Hip-hop With Palpable Passion On “Fade Away”

Connie Roses is an artist largely inspired by Taoist spiritualism and hypnotic abstract raps from the likes of Billy Woods, Earl Sweatshirt, and Open Mike Eagle. The goal of his music is simple: be as honest as possible and put as much emotion and genuine feeling into it as you can. From this method and thought process, each song is as brutally straightforward as it is meditative.

Roses’s latest single, the spiritually awake and invigorating “Fade Away,” showcases the artist’s tireless creativity and unfiltered passion for Hip-hop. Pittsburgh never gets the credit it deserves as a vibrant city offering some of the more refreshing music of modern times, and Roses is looking to change that. Along with the help of a head-spinning verse from My Favorite Color, “Fade Away” features grainy vocals that explode out from behind a soulful instrumental, creating a whirlwind of colorful textures to get lost in. While “Fade Away” is sonically immersive, lyrically, Roses takes it even further. His strep throat vocals balance braggadocious rhymes and heart-touching vulnerability as Roses lays his emotions bare, leaving no confusion as to what his message is. That message is a dedication to Pittsburgh and Roses’s promise to make his city proud by carrying its artistic torch into a new era.

“Fade Away” comes from Roses’s new EP, What We Got To Offer, which is available here.
