Hallelujah the Hills have been crafting critically acclaimed albums and captivating audiences across the U.S. since 2007. The band’s journey began with two releases on Misra Records before going on to assist Titus Andronicus in recording their breakout album The Monitor. They are also among the rare acts to have toured with The Silver Jews.
Hallelujah the Hills are veterans at this point in their career, yet they continue to push boundaries and dive deep into the catacombs of rock music, only to emerge with something they can call their own. That is the case on “It’s Undeniable,” a highlight from the band’s ambitious four-album release. On the song Hallelujah the Hills blend subtle, experimental punk with their natural knack for pop melodies, creating a lovely yet chaotic blend of rock music’s nuances. “It’s Undeniable” is the result of years of self-exploration and toiling with their sound, and the results are displayed proudly across the band’s single. The way they employ vague yet potent imagery in the lyrics, the chanting melodies that deliver those images, and the honed yet hectic arrangement can only be achieved by a band like this. It sounds like the band is genuinely enjoying the process of creating, allowing their lofty visions to be proudly displayed in this cacophony of scorching guitars and heart-pounding drums. DECK is as ambitious as they come, and “It’s Undeniable” only scratches the surface of the monstrous release from Hallelujah The Hills, a band that forces their experimentation to yield magical results.
“It’s Undeniable” is a part of the band’s ambitious upcoming project, DECK, a 52-song endeavor spanning four LPs, each representing a suit in a deck of cards: CLUBS, DIAMONDS, HEARTS, and SPADES. Over two and a half years in the making, the album was recorded across New England, with the majority of sessions taking place at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Crooked Horse Studio in Providence, Rhode Island. All four LPs arrived on June 13.
