After a long, relaxing, rejuvenating vacation, a steam whistle blows, the creeks of large gears echo as machines begin to light up; The Ol’ Caustic Factory is back up and running, and we are coming back with a bang. We hope everyone had a lovely holiday last week, but now it’s back to business. This week’s list is a beautifully diverse lineup of freeing jazz, experimental pop, and triumphant Hip-hop returns. While I’m sure some of us are longing for another long weekend away from work, a run-through of some new music acts as a tiny vacation, a mental trip to a different world filled with unpredictability and whimsy.

You can check out Glide’s picks for the week’s best new music, and be sure to head over to our Spotify page to stay updated on all things Caustic.

Sunking – “CASTLE IN THE SKY”

I DON’T LIKE MY TELEPHONE

The long-awaited follow-up to Sunking’s stellar 2022 LP has finally arrived in all its jazzy electronica glory, and these 12 songs are as wonderfully intoxicating as we all hoped. I DON’T LIKE MY TELEPHONE is a poetic journey through the overlap of modern technology and organic nostalgia as Sunking, now a trio, blend electronic bliss with soaring jazz. “CASTLE IN THE SKY” leans towards the jazzy side of the LP with whimsical melodies floating by on a cloud of nimble tempos.

Clipse – “M.T.B.T.T.F.”

Let God Sort Em Out

For the first time since 2009, Hip-hop’s beloved brother duo, Pusha T and Malice, come together as Clipse for Let God Sort Em Out. The 13-song LP picks up right where the duo left off, rapping with a grandiose expertise of fame and fortune over dark, searing instrumentals from Pharrell Williams. “M.T.B.T.T.F.” sounds like it could’ve been on Clipse’s 2002 LP as the duo tap back into their roots for a hazy, almost psychedelic display of their natural chemistry and raw prowess.

Brent Cobb & The Fixin’s – “In Our Hands”

Ain’t Rocked in a While

For his debut LP with his touring band, The Fixin’s, singer/songwriter Brent Cobb uses the power of collaboration to craft a sprawling yet diverse effort. Ain’t Rocked in a While takes on more meanings than one; the obvious is a nod to the fact that this is Cobb and his band’s debut, and the other is how they tackled these 10 songs. The band touched on different corners of rock, from the garage-influenced singles to “In Our Hands,” a droning, sentimental piece of psychedelic rock with twinkling guitars, slow burns, and an intoxicating vocal performance.

Wet Leg – “pond song”

moisturizer

After crashing the pop party with the release of their celebrated 2022 self-titled effort, Wet Leg have finally returned with a proper sophomore effort. The duo’s new album, moisturizer, is a bubbly, vulnerable piece of modern pop that proves Wet Leg has the creative capacity to capture the essence of the genre and spin its tropes on their head, creating a danceable, honest, and experimental pop landscape. “Pond song” is a fuzzy, distorted trip of a love song that starts with a subtle groove that explodes into pulsating, drum-driven bliss.

The Wildmans – “Hot Burrito #2”

Longtime Friend

For the first time in five years, The Wildmans have returned with a new LP. The 12 songs that make up Longtime Friend are sonically diverse, with the consistency of the LP coming from the duo’s poetic songwriting as they tackle love with a soulful flair, longing with a folksy twang, all while throwing in bluegrass-inspired instrumental pieces. “Hot Burrito #2” leans to the nostalgic pop side of things with infectious melodies that collide with sliding guitars and heart-pounding drums.

Jaleel Shaw – “Baldwin’s Blues”

Painter of the Invisible

Jaleel Shaw has been one of the most consistently daring figures in modern jazz since the early 2000s, and on his latest LP, the artist continues to blur the lines between jazz’s history and its future. Painted of the Invisible is a captivating, 11-song project from a jazz veteran unafraid to dip into the conventional just as fearlessly as he creates a freewheeling world of blaring brass and nimble bass lines. “Baldwin’s Blues” is an early favorite from the LP that follows Shaw’s saxophone into familiar yet refreshing waters.

Gina Birch – “Nothing Will Ever Change”

Trouble

For her second official solo LP, post-punk legend Gina Birch crafts an undeniable piece of music that beautifully represents the artist’s abstract nature and empathetic songwriting. Trouble is a nearly hour-long journey through syncopated melodies that warp around collages of electronic blips, creating an entire sonic universe for Birch’s vocals to spill over. “Nothing Will Ever Change” is an unassuming highlight with subdued vocals and groove that deliver an intoxicating performance from a musical legend.

Syd – “Die For This”

Single

For the first time in over three years, we have new music from modern R&B powerhouse Syd. One of the band leaders of The Internet took time this week to release “Die For This,” a mesmerizing take on the modern R&B scene with silk-lined vocals and even smoother tempos. “Die For This” marks Syd’s first solo release since 2022’s Broken Hearts Club LP.

Idlewild – “Stay Out Of Place”

Idlewild

For the first time in six years, Idlewild returns with the announcement of a new LP and its acrobatic lead single. The band’s self-titled effort is set to arrive on October 3, and “Stay Out Of Place” is our lead single. The anthemic album opener is a cinematic piece of alt-rock that dips into different moods with ease and grace.

Geezer, Love Spells, & Truly Young – “Doggy”

Single

Geezer is the new duo of alt-pop sensation Dominic Fike and modern Hip-hop pioneer Kevin Abstract, and the irresistible “Doggy” is the debut single from the supergroup. Along with new faces, Love Spells and Truly Young, “Doggy” is a sun-drenched journey through bright melodies and elastic drums that bounce and groove with theatrical benevolence.

ALA.NI – “This Is Why”

Sunshine Music

The versatile songstress ALA.NI has announced her first full-length in over five years, and the latest single is hinting at a freeing, jazzy LP. Sunshine Music is set to be released on September 19, and the stunning and moving “This Is Why” is our latest single. The moody ballad is built around traces of jazz’s past as the artist’s vocals cascade around simplistic yet potent grooves.

Geese – “Taxes”

Getting Killed

The long-awaited follow-up to Geese’s unbelievably chaotic venture into rock fusion is finally getting ready to be released, and the lead single is everything we could’ve asked for. Getting Killed will be released on September 26 and will be the band’s first LP after the runaway success of their 2023 album, 3D Country. “Taxes” is our first preview of the anticipated LP. The lead single doubles as a dare, with vocalist Cameron Winter’s performance coming in with cartoonish exaggeration, pleading with the government to come and find him if they want a cut of his yearly pay.

The Thing – “Insane”

The Thing

Throughout 2025, New York City’s latest alt-rock offering, The Thing, has been releasing singles in pairs leading up to the August 6 release of their self-titled LP. The newest pair is also the last before the full LP arrives, and “Insane” stands out as one of the more memorable singles the band has released this year. The sleek and glittery guitars are juxtaposed by punch-drunk vocals that funnel into beautiful harmonies, giving the single that warping feeling that overtakes the listener once the play button is pressed.

Cochemea – “Ancestros Futuros”

Vol III: Ancestros Futuros

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Cochemea has officially announced the third installment of his sonic research between past and present. Vol III: Ancestros Futuros is set to arrive on September 26, and the attention-demanding title track is our first single. The lead single paints vivid pictures without uttering a word, as Cochemea reaches across generations and genres to create an alluring preview of their latest work.

Glitterfox – “Take Me Back”

decoder
