The thought of staying in versus going out for the night is probably the deep-down choice for many a person. Getting all fancied up, choosing your clothes, changing your mind about what to wear, worrying about parking, and all of that is rather tedious for many a night-goer. What if you just stayed in and played records by your favorite artist?

Well, Florida/Georgia-based AAA Americana artist Nate Currin devours that cozy subject with his new single “Let’s Stay In & Put a Dylan Record On,” which Gide is premiering below. This homebody anthem is off Currin’s ninth studio album Ghost Town, arriving August 1st. Currin awakens the senses with a soulful strength in his vocals that sticks with a powerful 90s emotive flair – as if Counting Crows got dosed with a shot of Steve Earle.

“I really wanted Matthew Odmark (of Jars of Clay) to work on this song with me. We did an entire record together ten years ago, and I thought his ideas would translate well for this song. He brought in Peyton [Parker], and she killed the vocals on this song. I wrote this song coming out of the pandemic, when everyone was required to stay home. But, I have a funny saying I kept telling friends during and after COVID: ‘I’ve been social distancing for years.’ It’s the introvert in me. I was with someone during the early days of the pandemic, and I had this vision for us — that we’d settle down and spend our days listening to records, watching old movies, and walking the beach. It didn’t work out, so I’m still searching for that person to put on a record and stay in with.”

Born out of the wreckage of a major breakup, the record plays like a road journal—rich with folk-rock, bluegrass, honkytonk blues, and flashes of cosmic country. While it explores the literal act of traveling across the U.S., its deeper journey is emotional: a meditation on heartbreak, and how the ghosts of lost love linger long after the miles are behind you. It’s about what remains when a once-vibrant world fades into memory.

A true road warrior, Currin has spent the past two decades touring relentlessly—logging more than 900 shows, crisscrossing over 800,000 miles, and sometimes calling a motorhome home. Along the way, he’s shared the stage with acts like Butch Walker, Neon Trees, Blues Traveler, Shawn Mullins, Alabama, Hunter Hayes, and longtime collaborators Jars of Clay—whose members also appear on Ghost Town.

The album was co-produced by Jon Poole (in Northern Georgia) and Matthew Odmark of Jars of Clay (at Nashville’s Gray Matters Studios), marking another creative partnership between Currin and the band.

Currin’s songwriting has earned him five International Music & Entertainment Awards, including multiple Songwriter of the Year honors. He’s also been nominated for Indie Music Awards and a Georgia Music Award. Several of his releases have reached the Top 20 on iTunes/Apple Music charts, and his song “Oklahoma” was featured on Showtime’s Shameless.
