Golden Age Thursday: Watch Agnostic Front Rule Early NYC Hardcore Scene – LIVE AT CBGB 1986

There are very few bands that have a hardcore rap sheet as long as NYC’s Agnostic Front. As one of the forebears of the New York City scene, the band has been put through the ringer with countless lineup changes and public scrutiny, some of which include accusations of racism from prominent cultural figures such as Phil Donahue. Even with all this weight on their shoulders, Agnostic Front emerges on the other side as a seminal, beloved, influential, and long-standing figure in the hardcore history books, and the band continues to add chapters to this day.

The Agonistic Front name stays alive as founding members Vinnie Stigma and Roger Miret continue to tour and record music with bassist Mike Gallo, rhythm guitarist Craig Silverman, and drummer Danny Lamagna. Rarely, a hardcore giant like this is still standing, so it is important to remember and appreciate the legacy that gifted Agnostic Front with this longevity. For this Golden Age Thursday, we have a 1986 performance from the band as they tear apart the iconic CBGB’s with the pure hardcore energy that pushed their career past the four-decade mark.
