Known as a fantastic live band and one of the most original bands in Norway, Real Ones continue to see smiling and dedicated audiences wherever they play: From Svalbard to Yukon to Shanghai to Mumbai to Havana to New York and to countless other places they have played! In February 1994, while they were still in middle school, Real Ones held their first concert in their hometown of Bergen, Norway. More than 29 years, 13 albums, 4 EPs, 2 Spellemenn (Norwegian Grammy Awards), and over 1000 concerts in 15 countries on three continents later, the five childhood friends are ready for new adventures.
Real Ones are five childhood friends from Bergen who have developed their musical skills and sound together. The band was formed in 1994, starting as a traditional folk music band. A constant search for new sounds and new ways has transformed the band into one of Norway’s most unique and experimental bands within the genres of folk, pop, and rock, with clear inspiration from world music and styles from all over the world.
With a psychedelic flair and an infectious spirit, Real Ones waltz back into the modern folk scene with “Folk House.” The new single is the third of three singles released by the band in 2025, and while it falls in line with a release schedule, “Folk House” is far from a typical release from Real Ones. Their latest single quickly separates the band from the burgeoning folk scene as they stretch the limits of their beloved genre to unearth a piece of pop-leaning, danceable music that still nods at tradition. As the acoustics dance about, the whimsical vocal performances deliver folksy storytelling, creating that familiar feeling you’re getting. Still, the magic of “Folk House” is in the alien aspects of the performance. The bouncy drum patterns, the off-kilter melodies of the guitars, and the psychedelia-fueled harmonies all highlight the intricacies that make “Folk House” such a refreshing and unforgettable release from the veteran band.
