Technology Tuesday: Laytr – E-Mail Reminder Service

I use Laytr most often for conference call & appointment reminders.  I schedule many conference calls on the fly and they often get scheduled in the beginning of the day for a few hours later. I simply add “225pm@laytr.com” or the date and time if a different day to the BCC line of my email to the recipients setting up the call. For me, this is much easier than creating a calendar entry or some other reminder. As the emails come precisely and dependably at the exact time you specified, I usually set the reminder five minutes early to give time to dial-in or get off another call.

The uses for laytr or any email reminder services are unlimited. Birthday reminders, appointments, travel itineraries, warranty & registrations, event planning and zillions of other times when it is just easier to snooze an email rather than take action on it immediately.

So if you are not yet using an email reminder service, give laytr a try. If you are using one, does it offer everything that laytr does for free? When do you use a service like this? Do you have any creative uses?

Until next week, laytr!
