Columbia has signed former Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, who has spent his entire career on Elektra. The artist’s label debut, “Shine,” will be released Nov. 1 as a DualDisc. The 12-track set was produced by Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), who also contributes on bass. For the first time, Anastasio served as the only lyricist on any of his projects.
Songs include “Love Is Freedom,” which Anastasio performed in February at New York’s Tibet House benefit, “Come As Melody,” “Air Said to Me,” “Love That Breaks All Lines” and “Sweet Dreams Melinda,” a co-write with former collaborators Russ Lawton and Tony Markellis.
